Our family has been coming to Crest Ranch since I was 11 months old. My grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins and my
immediate family hold a special place in our heart for Crest Ranch and "Tree Day" (as we have come to call the tradition of going and cutting down our Christmas tree). This year we'll be celebrating 27 years of Crest Ranch trees. Your farm has not only become part of our tradition, but part of our family.

We look forward to seeing the familiar faces of your workers, as well as other families who have made Crest Ranch a part of their life. My grandparents have since passed away, but you should know that we have pictures of my grandad cutting down his own Christmas tree only a couple of months before he died at age 87! My grandma spent her last couple of Tree Days in a wheelchair, but she wouldn't pass up the trip to Crest Ranch. When the ranch was for sale, we had many discussions and strategies on how we could buy the farm and keep Christmas trees available for purchase.

A Family Tradition

Established in 1948, Crest Ranch Christmas Tree Farm is the oldest choose and cut Christmas tree farm in the Western United States. Located above Santa Cruz at the top of 2,600-foot Ben Lomand mountain overlooking the village of Boulder Creek, we have over 50 acres of Christmas trees with over 20 tree varieties.

Among our most popular Christmas tree varieties are Douglas Fir, Arizona Cypress, White Fir, Scotch Pine, and Austrian Pine. We also have limited numbers of many other Christmas tree varieties, including the Sierra Redwood, Atlantic Cedar, Sugar Pine, Blue Spruce, and Greek Fir ...and more!

But it's not just the quality and selection of Christmas trees that brings people to Crest Ranch. It's also the setting. Hundred-year-old oaks and madrones tower above rustic farm buildings. From "The Viewpoint" you can see seven counties. For a break after Christmas tree shopping, a pleasant picnic area is available. Bring your picnic lunch or snacks to enjoy the crisp clean winter air and fresh forest fragrance. On weekends hot dogs, snacks and drinks are available at the snack bar.

Year after year people from all around Santa Cruz, and from all over the San Francisco Bay Area make Crest Ranch the place they buy their Christmas tree.
